What is ISL?
国際サービス・ラーニングとは、地域社会へのボランティア活動を通じた学習方法です。
ボランティア活動の意義や大切さを、講義で学ぶだけでなく自分たちで実際に活動することでより深く学ぶことができます。
私たちは、そのボランティア活動として「ケニアの小学生への性教育」をおこなっています。
定期的に小学生へのオンライン授業を行ったり、実際に現地に赴いて彼らの生活環境や価値観の違いなどを目にしたりすることで、学生は多様性や包括性、社会正義について学びます。
国際サービス・ラーニングで実際にボランティアとして働くことで得られる「真の学び」を通し、学生たちは国内外を問わず地域社会で活躍していくための力を養うことができるのです。

オンライン教育
8週間のリプロダクティブ・ヘルス・プログラムは、基本的なコンピューターリテラシーに始まり、衛生管理、体の仕組み、生殖器、月経と思春期、ライフプランニング、STI (性病)へと発展していきます。現状、授業時間が25分、各セッションの小学生が26名と限られていますが、今後は予習や復習に使えるオンラインコンテンツなど少しずつ内容を充実させていきたいと考えています。生徒数1400人の学校で26人ずつ、年に2セッションは小さく見えるかもしれません。それでも、オンラインコンテンツの改善と学校内での生徒間(peer-to-peer)の指導を通じて、私たちのプログラムは少しずつ成長しています。
プロジェクトの内容を充実させると同時に、更にプロジェクト自体の規模を大きくしたい、つまりもっとたくさんの子どもたちに授業を届けたい、という展望もあります。しかし現在、ケニアの学校には13台のコンピューターしかありません。小学生は2、3人で１台を使用するため、1クラスの人数は26人に制限されてしまいます。もっとたくさんのコンピュータがあれば各セッションでより多くの小学生にプログラムを提供することができますが、残念ながらコンピュータを追加購入する資金がなく、プログラムの規模拡大には限界があります。

Where is Kenya?
Kenya is a large country on the east side of Africa.
Tell me about Kenya...
The Republic of Kenya is over 580,000 sq km (approx 1.5x the size of Japan.) with a population of almost 50 million.
Why are we working in Kenya?
Our ISL team is working with schools and clinics in the informal settlements of Nairobi and Mombasa. Our primary goal is to keep as many children in school for as long as possible. We are working with a particular emphasis on reproductive health training to keep all children in school by avoiding unplanned pregnancies and alleviating the challenges with menstrual care.
３年生
ISL I , ISL II, and Kenya Field Work are offered to students in the 3rd year of studies.
Students can join ISL I lecture classes, as well as ISL II online training with Kenyan junior high school students.
ISL I is a prerequisite for ISL II and ISL II is a prerequisite for Kenya Field Work. (special permission to participate is possible)
ISL I: Thursday after 4th Period
ISL II: Thursday after 4th Period and Friday after 4th Period
1・2 年生
Although it is not possible for 1st and 2nd year students to recieve academic credit for participating in ISL II, all students are invited to participate as observers in our online Kenya training classes and join us in making reproductive health and science training materials.
５年生
Students who have previously successfully completed ISL I and ISL II can join the Kenya Field Work in March, possibly as a clinical clerkship or certainly as a researcher and a participant.
